ABSTRACT: The Ethiopian community in Aiud, as an enclave of brave people whose relations with the motherland have been severed, preserved to this day a series of ancient rituals. Among them, the most fascinating is the so-called "dance of the belly" which was invented by king Saifa's favourite wife, who then came into exile in Aiud together with the rest of the community. The present paper explores the intricate possible interpretation and deep symbolism of this ancient form of both art and religion. The dance of the belly is, during the summertime, a form of divination based on the random movements of the oiled belly fat of women-dancers.

ABSTRACT: The archives of the Estonian-Ethiopian Commonwealth (Talinn), as well those of the Ethiopian Patriarchs (Abyss-Abeba) contain many manuscripts dating back to the XIVth, XVth or even XVIth century; some of these manuscripts, written in various late medieval Uighur alphabets (on one-hump-skinned-out-camel-parchments), bear strange ressemblances to the Tan-Dan Chinese Dynasty pre-idiomatical tablets, thus enlarging the area of our research to the great famine of China (1344), whose exquisite specialist is our friend and co-organizing colleague Ş.C. ABSTRACT: Following the cannibalism cases which occurred for the first time in China during the spring of 1344 (consequent to the fast-spreading famine), and to their continuous westward migration, the Estonian ‘Gathering of Ealdormen’, presided by King Vessel, adopted a set of rules meant to prevent abuse of any kind. In view of the grim retribution inflicted upon all who stepped astray and to the over-preventive, absurd measures stipulated therein, these rules were remembered as “King Vessel’s Laws”. Some people referred to them in terms of abusive exertion of power, emphasizing the restriction to fundamental God-given rights. They used to describe, to some extent, the unprecedented fastidious rules, by referring to a particular one that banned the infliction of death upon cockroaches.

ABSTRACT: Selam is a three years old anything but the body. Born several millions years ago, she decided to travel back in time so that her mother’s horrid death wouldn’t have taken place in the past anymore (she melted giving birth to Selam). So, packing her only skull and all of her teeth, she rolled over her liquefied mother, swam along the Parnu River into the Gulf of Riga, then into the Baltic Sea until she lost track of time, got dizzy of too much geographical data and set head, not foot, on the African shore.

The thesis will be illustrating, i.e. presenting a sequence of comprehensive childish drawings, the search for food started by Selam from Pulli which ended successfully in Afar Region, where she finds her substitute mother, Lucy, and nothing else.

ABSTRACT: La République Indépendante de Somalie possède, parmi ses trésors médiévaux, plusieurs églises dédiées en immense majorité au Saint National, de son nom précis St. Kuke, un somalien d’origine éthiopienne, venu en Somalie afin de baptiser la populace d’après les règles du baptême catholique pratiqué en Estonie par les chevaliers teutoniques qui ont mis les bases sociopolitiques de la Moldavie et de la Valachie (citation needed). Les églises dédiées à St. Kuke ont manifestement influencé le milieu culturel médiéval de l’Afrique centrale et de l’est, par l'intermédiaire de leurs peintures murales a secco (manque d’eau potable), vivement colorées.
